Bangkok Popsicle District

Drenched in a graphic dynasty of colour chaos, Thai artist Wuthipol Ujathammarat fashions a striking visual fantasy of Bangkok; sweetly salivating it resembles a popsicle wonderland. In his third installment of the Popsicle District series, Wuthipol continues to curate an artistic framing of urban geometry and peculiar palettes, obscurely found in alleyways of Bangkok, in a work that escorts his flavourful imagination beyond reality.

Observing a graphical composition from a wider perspective, Wuthipol chooses to detail the astonishing silhouettes, juxtaposition and colours of the often overlooked urban structures. Showing less and revealing more. These popping characteristics emphasise on the visual rhymes of which the colours, textures and formations are superbly lined up. By stripping down the noticeable details within its visual complexity, a hidden pattern of vivid aesthetics has been unveiled as Wuthipol precisely framed them to perfection. His minimalist vision also brings together a visual metaphorical perception of an urban popsicle that is typically familiar and yet rare to take notice in Bangkok.
