Urban Mess 2
In Urban Mess, Thai artist Wuthipol Ujathammarat fashions a series of vibrant and abstract photographs from his impromptu wanderings in Bangkok, where a beauty lies within its mess. Inspired by striking exterior palettes, the artist chooses to document an eerie, aesthetic and glowing detail that is prominently aligned to its surroundings. Settled within this constructive mess is a graphical artform, crafted by the artist, that creates a colourful geometric imagery through a visual deconstruction of an urban scenery.
The mix, mess and mismatch of Bangkok’s palette schemes are apparently systematic, and the tropical climate is the finest blame of all. The strong and dramatic palette becomes a handy preference; as it would last longer in the blazing sun, typically intense in Thailand, than any subtle exterior colours. These surreal palettes will still fade over time, but they are likely to fade out to another shade of colours. It is an utterly cost-effective approach that saves the hassle of unnecessary maintenance.
Precisely framed with a vividly expressive graphical composition, the surrealness of these urban colours exposes a peculiar artistic radiance; cluttering Bangkok with a dazzling tonal disorder, a mess, a beautiful urban mess.
